Friday’s snow continued into Saturday morning, and Colorado’s typical springtime collision of winter and summer weather resulted in accumulations of up to 9 inches of heavy, wet snow around the Denver metro area.

Two storm systems approaching the state could fuel a cold, snowy and windy end to the week, if predicitions for Friday night and Saturday hold true.

The third snowstorm in a week hits Lakewood with snow, sleet, gusting winds, thunder and lightning just as rush hour gets under way.

Firefighters are breathing easier after recent spring snow storms brought at least temporary relief to what had been an extremely dry season. And more snow, perhaps much more, is on the way.

Last week’s blizzard and Monday’s brief blast of snow provided some relief for firefighters. More help may be on the way in the form of a “significant” storm that could arrive by the weekend.

The season’s biggest snowstorm closed Jeffco schools for a second day because of ice and snow-packed streets that did not thaw until late morning. As skies cleared, folks turned to snow shovels, sleds and cross-country skis. Click here to view a gallery of snow photos.
