JEFFERSON COUNTY – A  former Alameda High School coach already jailed on accusations of sexual assault on a student faces more charges after a second student told police she, too, had a sexual relationship with the coach.

Wesley Adam Specht remained in Jefferson County Jail Friday and now faces six possible felony counts stemming from the allegations made public after his arrest late Wednesday including two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of sexual assault on a child as a pattern. The District Attorney is expected to file formal charges in the case within days.

Detectives believe Specht, 26, was engaged in sexual relationships with both students at about the same time, late 2010 and early 2011, according to an update on the case released early Friday by Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis.

“As a result of their investigation detectives have learned of a second victim,” according to Davis. “The second victim is also a female student at Alameda High School.”

After Specht was arrested in the first case, Davis said alleged sexual assaults occurred at “three or four different locations.”

Specht was a girls basketball coach at AHS, but it is unclear whether the alleged victims were members of Specht’s team.

Police were releasing few details.

“Due to the nature of the charges and the juvenile status of the victim, no further details are available at this time,” according to Davis.

Specht is the latest of a number of Jeffco coaches and teachers, both male and female – arrested after allegations of sexual misconduct with students.

Specht  remains loscked up in lieu of $35,000 cash bond.

Specht was hired at AHS as an assistant coach in November, 2009 and later became the girls’ varsity basketball coach. Davis said the suspect was a contract employee with the Jefferson County School District, but is no longer employed by the district.

Lakewood Police detectives urge anyone who may have information that would assist in the investigation of Specht to contact Detective Scott Tripp at 303-987-7228.
