Police seek “dangerous” suspect in Halloween nightclub shooting

Adam J. Ponce, aka "Oso"
LAKEWOOD – Police Thursday issued a community alert, seeking help finding a suspect in the pre-dawn Halloween shooting of a security guard at an east Lakewood nightclub.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Adam J. Ponce, 25, in connection with Sunday morning’s shooting incident at Club Arriba, 5255 W 6th Ave.. Police responding to a 911 found the security guard wounded, apparently by a single gun-shot fired as the victim was trying to break up a fight on the west-side of the club’s parking lot, according to LPD spokesman Steve Davis. The victim’s condition was not immediately available.
Two of Ponce’s acquaintances – Jose Gutierrez, 42, and Yolanda Davila, 40 – were arrested at the scene, but Ponce fled on foot and remains at-large. Davis is lodged n Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bond. Gutierrez apparently has posted bond and is no longer in jail, according to Sheriff’s Office records.
Ponce, who also goes by the name “Oso”, 5-foot, 7-inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has a shaven head, a narrow brown beard and brown eyes. Ponce also has the name “Shantelle” tattooed on the right side of his neck and has the number “18” tattooed on the back of his head.
Ponce should be considered armed and very dangerous, Davis said.
Charges pending against the fugitive include attempted homicide, felony menacing and for a felon in possession of a weapon.
“Anyone who feels they may have information that would assist detectives in locating Ponce, is asked to call detectives (Brian) Feik or (Karen) Turnbull at the Lakewood Police Department at 303-987-7111,” Davis said.
