State’s ‘clearinghouse’ website for veterans’ info goes online

DENVER – A new state website that provides Colorado’s Veterans with complete information resources is now online, offering members of the military, veterans and their families an easily accessible “clearinghouse” with information about programs and services available to them..

The website is the result of HB 09-1291, sponsored by Nikkel, R-Loveland, during the 2009 legislative session.

“There are many programs and state incentives that our veterans and their families can utilize but the information was scattered and difficult for veterans to locate,” Nikkel said. “Now, veterans and their families searching for information and resources have a centralized website to guide them through what state benefits are available.”

HB 1291 created the database of services through the Division of Veteran Affairs. The measure was approved by both the Colorado House and Senate with unanimous support and was signed into law by the governor.

“As more of Colorado veterans return from overseas operations, I believe this website is going to prove to be a great asset for them,” Nikkel said.
