Sheriff’s Office seeks public’s help in finding sex assault suspect

JEFFERSON COUNTY – Investigators hope tips from the public will help them find a man suspected of molesting a child in the locker room at the Ridge Recreation Center last weekend.

Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to the center at 6613 S. Ward St. in Littleton about 5 p.m. Saturday after the victim told his parents about the incident. Investigators said the 10-year-old boy told his parents that he was sexually assaulted in the locker room while he was getting dressed after swimming.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with short, dark hair. The suspect is believed to be is thought in his late teens or mid-20s and possibly has a mole near his right eye.

The Ridge also was the site of another sexual assault involving a 16-year-old male victim in April 2010 and a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said investigators do not know if the two crimes are linked.

The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may have seen someone in the area of The Ridge resembling the description, or has any information that may aid in the investigation of either of the assaults at the recreation center to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612
