FasTracks work to detour 6th Avenue drivers
LAKEWOOD – Construction work on the FasTracks West Corridor light rail line will force a number of traffic closures in the coming week, Regional Transportation District officials said Friday.
The traffic detours started late Friday, when crews began work to move the off ramp from West 6th Avenue to traffic exiting eastbound to West Colfax Avenue to accommodate changes required by the new light rail bridge. The ramp will be closed until 5:30 a.m. Monday, according to RTD.
On Thursday, Aug. 19, all lanes of westbound 6th Avenue at Indiana Street will close and drivers will be rerouted via the 6th Avenue exit ramps and entrance ramps at Indiana Street. Indiana Street northbound also will be closed to traffic between the detour ramps.
RTD cautions that all construction activities and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
