Ice cream man jailed in suspected sexual assault of child
LAKEWOOD – An ice cream vendor is in Jefferson County Jail, accused of sexually assaulting a small a child while he sold his frozen confections out of a pushcart earlier this month, police announced Wednesday.

Adolfo Luna-Hernandez
Adolfo Luna-Hernandez, 37, is expected to be in Jefferson County Court Thursday to be advised of the charges that will be filed against him.
On July 14, police were called to the vicinity of West 12th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard to investigate a report that a 5-year-old female had been inappropriately touched by a man who frequents the area while selling his ice cream. Investigators later identified the suspect as Luna-Hernandez, according to Lakewood Police Department spokesman Steve Davis.
After obtaining an arrest warrant for Luna-Hernandez, pictures of the suspect were circulated among LPD patrol officers. The alert paid off last week when officers on patrol spotted Luna-Hernandez selling ice cream from his cart at West 17th Avenue and Harlan Street, according to Davis. After his arrest, the suspect was booked into the county jail.
“Due to the nature of the charges and the fact that the victim is a juvenile, further information is very limited,” according to Davis.
Police urge anyone with information that could be important to the investigation to contact Lakewood Police Detective Jennifer Moore at 303-987-7111.
