Police consider charges in child’s hot tub death

 By Ryan Parker
A baby sitter could face charges after a 3-year-old girl was died after climbing into a hot tub at an apartment complex last week.
The baby sitter was watching three other children while their mother was away when the incident occurred at 3:22 p.m., Friday at the Telluride West Apartments, 322 Wright St.
The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending, police said.
“It’s (charges) something they’ll look into,” said Steve Davis,
spokesman for the Lakewood police. Negligent child abuse resulting in death is among the possible charges in the drowning.
The baby sitter was with the four children at the pool and the probable drowning is believed to have occurred while she was attending to the other three, police said.
Neither the depth of the tub nor temperature of the water was not known to investigators, police said.
LPD investigators are conducting interviews to see how long the girl was left unattended and how long she may have been in the tub before she was found.
Calls to Telluride West Apartments for comment were not immediately returned.
