LAKEWOOD – The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD), along with the RMCAD Alumni Association present RMCYCLE—a charity art event benefiting Architecture for Humanity and the work they’re doing in Haiti—April 16 on the RMCAD campus.

Now in its second year, RMCYCLE raises money for local and national charities through the auction of art objects made of recycled or sustainable materials, as well as through the auction of donated gift items. The mission of the event is to reflect the life-changing impact that one person can have on the planet with the promotion of sustainability through art and design, and to show the community that “green is glamorous.”

This year’s chosen charity is Architecture for Humanity (AFH), a nonprofit design services firm committed to building a more sustainable future through the power of professional design. Their largest current project involves long-term reconstruction efforts in Haiti. In addition to housing, AFH is aiding in rebuilding civic infrastructure with a special emphasis on school reconstruction. You can learn more about this project by visiting www.architectureforhumanity.org.

RMCYCLE’s silent auction will include art from RMCAD students and faculty, along with donated items from various architecture and design firms (many from the Denver Design District) as well as local restaurants and retailers. The auction provides showcased artists the chance to gain additional exposure to Denver’s art and design community while giving visitors the chance to pick up unique, amazing pieces at reasonable prices.

RMCYCLE: Rotunda Pavilion, Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, Friday, April 16, 6 – 9 p.m. Cocktail hour and opening bids for silent auction will be from 6-7 p.m.;

Guest Speaker Sarah Karlan , Architecture for Humanity 7:15- 8 p.m.; final bids and raffle, 8- 9 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the door: $15 for general public/professionals, and $10 for students (with valid student ID). If you plan on attending, RSVP to jdill@rmcad.edu or visit www.asidcolorado.org/news_events.php. Art donations are also still being accepted. Contact khoppe@rmcad.edu to donate.
