Sheriff’s Office seeks volunteers for Reserve Unit
JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Sheriff’s Office is beefing up its force of volunteer reserves, but applicants must apply by March 12.
Reserve deputies donate at least 16 hours a month, performing law enforcement services and assisting during emergencies. All reserve deputies are required to maintain the same high standards of conduct required of any deputy sheriff.
Reserve deputy positions require applicants to be either a POST-certified law enforcement officer or attend the agency’s POST-sanctioned reserve law enforcement academy, which starts in May.
The reserve academy course includes 200 hours of training and classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings and all day Saturday for about five months.
Interested citizens should submit an application online through the JCSO Web site, www.jeffcosheriff.com and go to the “Careers” and “Volunteer Position” tabs. For further information about the reserve program, visit the Web site or contact the Recruiting Unit at (303) 271-5332.
