SRC urges seniors to apply for grant-paid services
The Seniors’ Resource Center has some grant money available to pay for in-home services at little or no cost to qualifying senior citizens in Jefferson, Adams and Denver counties, the center announced.
The grant funds were provided through the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
The funding became available March 1 and the amount is limited, so the center urges older adults seeking assistance with meal preparation and cleanup, light housekeeping, linen changing service, laundry, assistance with shopping and errands, companionship or other non-medical tasks should contact the Seniors Resource as soon as possible.
Applicants can contact the center at (303) 235-6976.
“Before this generous funding quickly runs out, we urge interested and qualified seniors to immediately take advantage of this opportunity to potentially receive these services at no cost,” said John Zabawa, SRC president and chief operating officer.
All the personal care providers used by the SRC must pass criminal background checks and are professionally trained. The providers are supervised by a registered nurse and are bonded and insured.
“In-Home Care Services preserves the livelihood of lo0ved ones living independently in the Denver metro area, so it is vital that every senior in need capitalize on this funding right away,” said Heather Morgan, SRC’s In-Home Services manager.
The SRC, which has been a leading nonprofit source of services for senior citizens for 32 years, provided direct services to 18,655 people in the 10-county metro area, including 86,152 hours of service through the In-Home Care Services provided to 473 senior citizens.
