Lakewood police want information from mystery woman

JEFFERSON COUNTY – Lakewood Police investigators want to talk to a woman who could have information about a suspect charged with 19 counts of sexual assault and released a photo of the sleeping woman late Thursday.

The Lakewood Edge does not plan to publish the photo because of the possibility the woman may be a victim.

Timothy Layne Martinez, 32, of Lakewood is accused of sexually assaulting two women multiple times either while they were asleep or “in some altered state,” according to an appeal for information about the woman in the picture released by the District Attorney’s Office, citing court records.

The alleged sexual assaults occurred between February and November of 2006 but were not reported until one of the victims contacted Lakewood Police earlier this year. Martinez was arrested and charged after an subsequent investigation into the allegations

Police believe Martinez recorded several of the alleged sexual assaults on videotape. According to court records, most of the assaults are committed while the victim(s) is asleep or in some altered state. Many of the sexual assaults appear to have taken place at his home in Lakewood., according to investigators.

Martinez knew two of the alleged victims, prosecutors said, but their relationship with the suspect has not been disclosed in order to protect the victims’ identities

As a result of their continuing investigation, the Lakewood Police Department believe the woman in the photo below may have information about this case and would like to talk to her, or to anyone who might have information about her. Her connection with the case was not revealed.

Investigators urge anyone with possible information about  the case should contact Lakewood Police Department Investigator Karen Turnbull, (303) 987-7217.
