LAKEWOOD – On December 5 the Philip J. Steele Arts and Education Foundation presents the 4th Annual Art Bash.
Proceeds from this exhibition and silent auction support the Foundation’s student scholarship fund. These scholarships give students with financial need the opportunity to get a world-class education at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.
This annual event draws from a variety of talent including national and international artists as well as RMCAD faculty, students and alumni. This year’s Art Bash is expected to feature more than 140 diverse works, each on an 8” x 8” canvas. Because many of the artists selected are sculptors or other artists that work in other mediums, the works exhibited in the Bash are often unique interpretations of the canvas.
Online viewing of the exhibition and bidding on the canvases begins Nov. 23 at www.steelefoundation.org. The final evening of the Exhibition is free, open to the public and will include a wine and cheese reception and a silent auction.
A sample of the renowned artists featured:
Rick Griffith is a local experimental graphic designer, business owner and teacher. Rick’s focus is in typography and his studio, Matter Design, houses 7 printing presses.

Katherine and Michael McCoy are internationally recognized for their unique multi-disciplinary design education methods. They have received over 200 awards for their work in graphic, product, furniture, signage, exhibit and interior design.
John McEnroe is a sculptor who works with a variety of materials including pantyhose, sand, and resin. His public art commissions in Denver include monumental sculptures for the walls of the Colorado Convention Center and most recently the outdoor installation piece National Velvet.
Clark Richert is the head of the Painting Department at RMCAD and a prolific artist. His works are in many private and museum collections, including the Denver Art Museum. Clark will have a Retrospective Exhibition opening at the Philip J. Steele Gallery in February 2010.

The Philip J. Steele Arts Education Foundation is a non-profit organization created to raise scholarship funds for art and design students who have a high level of artistic skill, but can not afford to pay for their education at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. The Foundation was named after the founder of RMCAD, Phlip J. Steele.
