FasTracks work to close stretch of I-70 west

LAKEWOOD – FasTracks construction will force a significant, highway closure this weekend, blocking off all lanes of interstate 70 westbound from the exit at C-470 to the Colfax Avenue exit.

The Denver Transit Construction Group, RTD’s West corridor light rail contractor, announced the closure late Monday.

All westbound lanes of traffic on I-70 between the 6th Avenue and Colfax Avenue exits will be closed the weekend of Friday, Nov. 13th through Monday, Nov. 16th. The closure will begin at 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th and all westbound lanes of traffic are scheduled to reopen at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16th.

Traffic will be re-routed from westbound I-70 at Colfax Avenue to West 6th Avenue, then west to Earl Johnson Road, then south onto C-470 southbound, then back to I-70 westbound.

The scheduled closure could change, depending on weather conditions.

FasTracks, a voter-approved expansion rail and bus service throughout the RTD service area, will add 122 miles of commuter rail and light rail service, 18 miles of bus rapid transit service and redevelop Union Station in Denver..
