Victim of car-pedestrian accident listed as ’stable’

LAKEWOOD – A 55-year-old woman injured in a car-pedestrian accident last week is in stable condition at a local hospital, police said Tuesday.

The as-yet unidentified woman was hit by a mini-van as she ran across Wadsworth Boulevard at West 5th Avenue Friday afternoon.

Witnesses, including a Lakewood Animal Control officers, told accident investigators the woman ran across the intersection and into the path of the on-coming mini-van, which was southbound on Wadsworth, said police spokesman Steve Davis.

No one in the van was injured.

The witnesses said the southbound traffic had a green light, Davis said.

Davis said the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for not having proof of insurance at the scene, but no charges were filed in connection with the accident.

The victim’s family told police she is developmentally disabled but has had no other similar incidents.

She was transported to a local hospital by a West Metro ambulance.
