New board member appointed for Jeffco Schools

LAKEWOOD – Robin Johnson of Arvada was selected to fill the District 1 vacancy on the Jefferson County Board of Education and will take her oath of office Sept. 3.

Johnson, who has three children in Jeffco Schools, was appointed to replace former board member Scott Benefield who resigned in June, citing personal reasons.

Because Benefield also was president of the board when he resigned in June, the school board reorganized its leadership positions. Sue Marinelli was elected board president and Rick Rush was elected secretary-treasurer.

Johnson, who has been active in PTA at her children’s schools, will serve until Benefield’s term expires in November.
