CDoT plans meeting on U.S. 6/Wadsworth study

LAKEWOOD – The Environmental Assessment for the state highway department’s U.S. 6/Wadsworth study will be presented to the public at a public hearing Wednesday, July 22 at Lakewood City Hall.

Written comments on the EA can be submitted through Aug. 28, but the public hearing will give the public a chance to deliver their comments directly.

The Colorado Department of Transportation compiled the environmental statement as part of the Federal Highway Administration’s decision-making process. The federal agency will consider the public comments before determining whether to endorse the proposed project, which would reconfigure the on/off ramps to West 6th Ave. – U.S. 6 – and widen portions of Wadsworth from West 14th Avenue south to the vicinity of W. 4th Ave. Sound walls along the highway also are part of the proposal.

The plan and the EA which can be seen online or at the Belmar Library, the Lakewood City Clerk’s Office and the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Written comments can be submitted through CDoT’s project website or by U.S. Postal Service delivery. Information on submitting comments also can be found on the website

The July 22 meeting, which starts with a 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. open house – will be in City Council Chambers, 480 S. Allison Parkway. The meeting will continue through 7:30 p.m. and an informational program will begin at 6 p.m.

The EA is part of process to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act, which requires agencies planning federally funded transportation projects to examine and address possible environmental impacts.
