Tyler sets meeting on family finances
Rep. Max Tyler, D-Lakewood/Golden, will conduct a Town Hall meeting Thursday to discuss stretching the family dollar during the recession.
Tyler was appointed to replace former State Rep. Gwyn Green in June.
The personal-finance session will include a panel comprised of Jefferson County Public Trustee Margaret Chapman; George Chapman, regional director of education for the Colorado Center for Financial Education; and Mason Finks, director of fraud prevention for the 18th Judicial District’s DA’s Office.
The panel will discuss such topics as refinancing and new ways to avoid foreclosure, when bankruptcy is appropriate, consumer credit, how to handle credit and credit card debt, retirement planning and how to avoid financial scams.
The meeting will be 6 p.m. July 9 at the American Legion hall, 1655 Simms St. in Lakewood.
